The Client Brief
Over 10,000 cu-m of Expanded Polystyrene was used in the makeup of the Barratt Great west quarter, Barratt Homes’ Great West Quarter in Brentford is one of West London’s most unique and architecturally stunning developments.
Combining striking art deco renovations with impressive new build structures, Great west quarter has over 700 new homes set amongst landscaped piazzas and green open spaces, numerous shops, offices, cafés hotel and restaurant.
The Challenge
S and B initially supplied Eps 100 blocks to fill voids that were found in the original foundation dig. The next stage was the supply of over 6,000 cu-m of various Eps grades reaching densities of over 40g/l for the landscaping and road ways of the surrounding areas.
Eps was then used as a preferred solution for the External walls on the apartment blocks, blending in to the upmarket and trendy appearance of the complex and using a energy saving StoTherm render system.
From cradle to grave EPS was used in all aspects of this landmark prestigious site. Using fill blocks and external wall we watched the site develop over 5 years
